Noah Weiland, son of the late Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots, has paid tribute to his father with a cover and music video of the STP classic, “Sex Type Thing.” The young musician announced the release on Instagram, writing in the caption: “filmed this about a dream i had long ago about seeing my father again. it’s hard for me to stay in the moment sometimes, but i try.” The stripped-down cover of “Sex Type Thing” – which served as STP’s lead single from their 1992 debut album, Core – features Noah’s vocals over Spencer Carr Reed’s acoustic guitar, while the video portrays Noah with a Chucky doll symbolizing his late father. The clip also includes captions analyzing Noah’s relationship with his dad, “There was so much I wanted to tell him, like how much has changed on Earth without him” reads one, while the video concludes with, “I wish I could dream about you forever. But it’s OK … because for now I will carry on your legacy.” (Consequence of Sound)
