On Thursday (February 17), Garbage announced on social media that their new album, Let All That We Imagine Be the Light, will be released on May 30th. It will be the band’s eighth studio release, and serves as the follow-up to their 2021 album, No Gods No Masters. The album was co-produced by the band along with longtime engineer Billy Bush, and recorded at Red Razor Sounds in Los Angeles, drummer Butch Vig’s Silverlake home studio Grunge Is Dead, and vocalist Shirley Manson’s bedroom. Manson approached the new album “determined to find a more hopeful, uplifting world to immerse myself in,” while revealing the group’s previous record was “born out of frustration and outrage.” Vig says the veteran rock band “used a lot of analogue synths and sound design on the album, as they seemed to fit the dystopian vibes we were all experiencing.” Garbage begins an international tour in March, which includes an appearance at Cruel World 2025 and a high-profile opening date for My Chemical Romance in August.
