During a recent appearance on the Appetite For Distortion podcast, former Guns N’ Roses manager Alan Niven claimed that Axl Rose now demands 50% of the band’s income and “wants to be in control of everything.” Niven, who managed the group from 1986 to 1991, expressed his frustrations with Rose’s desire for control, stating that the band’s collective energy has been overshadowed by Axl’s dominance. “It’s a control thing with Axl,” Niven said. “Axl takes 50 per cent of the income of Guns N’ Roses now. He is not Guns N’ Roses. They were five individuals. It was a chemistry. It was a moment. But Axl wants to be in control of everything all the time. And look what that gets you. A boring solo record and a sh**ty thing of punk covers. And that’s it.” Niven was on the podcast to promote his forthcoming book, Sound N’ Fury: Rock N’ Roll Stories, which is due out on June 24.
