Bruce Springsteen Announces ‘Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition’ Box Set Featuring ‘Electric Nebraska’ Recordings

On Thursday (September 4), Bruce Springsteen announced that he is releasing a new box set titled, Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition, on October 17. The deluxe five-disc collection coincides with the October 24 theatrical release of the film, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, which dramatizes the making of his classic 1982 album. The set features the highly-anticipated eight-song Electric Nebraska disc, which includes unreleased E Street Band versions of six Nebraska tracks plus early 1982 recordings of “Born in the U.S.A.” (which was just officially shared) and “Downbound Train.” In a promotional video for the set, Springsteen says, “Over the years, I’ve been asked about ‘Electric Nebraska,’ and I always thought the question was ridiculous. And finally I went back into the vault and there it was.” The collection also features acoustic outtakes from the original solo sessions, a 2025 remaster of the album, and a newly filmed full-album performance at New Jersey’s Count Basie Theatre on Blu-Ray. Nebraska ’82 will be available in 4-LP and 4-CD formats, with both sets including the Blu-Ray performance. (Variety)
